QualitySolicitors Rubin Lewis O’Brien enjoyed great success with the launch of the Cwmbran Landlord Forum on 2nd September at the Parkway Hotel. The forum aspires to offer advice to landlords in the area, with meetings being held every two months with guest speakers present to discuss current housing issues.
Douglas Haig, Vice-Chairman and Director for Wales of the Residential Landlords Association (RLA) and Chairman of the Cardiff Landlord Forum gave the first talk on how to keep abreast of legislation and the importance of being informed.
Mr Haig said: ‘‘There was a fantastic response from the launch of the Cwmbran Landlord Forum, and I was impressed by the enthusiasm that all attendees demonstrated. There is a real lack of understanding amongst landlords, and the RLA and QualitySolicitors Rubin Lewis O’Brien are committed to promoting forums and other educational platforms to help develop and better the private rented sector. I have been involved in the Cardiff Landlord Forum for five years; so I know how hard it is to launch a group. I have every confidence that the Cwmbran Landlord Forum will become a regular fixture for all landlords in the area who are looking for advice, and who wish to air issues with people in similar situations.’’
Speakers in the months to follow will give talks on a range of topics such as how to structure investments financially in a tax efficient manner, advice on purchasing property at auction, how the local government can best protect landlords and how banks can meet landlords’ needs.
A client of QualitySolicitors Rubin Lewis O’Brien who attended the event, Sam Lamb, said: “The Forum will present a great opportunity for QualitySolicitors Rubin Lewis O’Brien, local landlords and the wider community to get involved in the private rented sector.”
Speaking of the event, QualitySolicitors Rubin Lewis O’Brien’s Sam George said: “We wanted to launch a platform that engaged with the landlords of Cwmbran and wider Torfaen on issues and topics specific to them.” said Mr George, Managing Partner at the firm.
‘‘We are looking forward to having a host of events across 12 months that cover issues both legislative and financial. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff and attendees, including Mr Haig, for their contributions.”
