Michael Heseltine is to speak to business owners next month at the inaugural meeting of the Cardiff Enterprise Network. The former Conservative powerhouse will speak at the Norwegian Church on 1st May to an invited audience of Welsh business leaders about their role within Welsh politics.
Speaking of the event, Cardiff Enterprise Network Chairman Gavin Hill-John said: ‘‘We are honoured to welcome a giant of the political landscape to the inaugural meeting. Baron Heseltine is a Welsh great; and I’m sure the business community of Cardiff will afford him a very warm welcome.’’
The Swansea-born former Deputy Prime Minister, who notably served in Margaret Thatcher’s and John Major’s Government across twenty years, will speak to members about the importance of engagement and communication between business and politics at a local level.
‘‘Lord Heseltine will be encouraging local businesses to take command of their political voice.’’ continued Hill-John, a local business owner from north Cardiff. ‘‘We believe that the Conservative Party can uphold links between Westminster and Cardiff for the direct benefit of business owners here in the city.
‘‘With the amount of support and initiatives around at present, this is a fantastic time to be running your own business and now is as important as ever to ensure your voice is heard from the Senedd to the House of Commons. The Cardiff Enterprise Network will be the facilitator between debate and policy. We will encourage all business figures to have a hand in how this country is being run on a national level; with emphasis on how it affects those at a local level.’’
The Cardiff Enterprise Network is an exclusive business organisation that meets regularly and attendance is via invite only. Other speakers in the Cardiff Enterprise Network calendar for 2014 are popular sporting executive, television star and serial entrepreneur Karen Brady and Secretary of State for Wales Rt. Hon. David Jones MP.
The network will host briefings of Government policies that will affect businesses in South Wales and offer members an opportunity to voice ideas to the next Conservative manifesto.
