Two of the UK’s most successful female sport stars have been announced as speakers at the motivational event of the summer.
Adventurer Debra Searle MVO MBE and former rally driver Penny Mallory will speak at The Challenge Summit 2015 this July at the Vale Resort.
‘‘The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day was Make It Happen; and both our speakers have achieved just this.’’ said organiser Helen Davies. ‘‘Debra in the face of extreme circumstances; being left to row across the Atlantic on her own, having never rowed before and Penny; being the first woman rally driver to achieve success in her sport against extreme adversity. Both these exceptional ladies have proved that you can do anything you put your mind to.’’
A professional adventurer, author and BBC presenter, Debra first hit the headlines when she set out to row across the Atlantic with her husband. Unfortunately, circumstances dictated that he had to be rescued. Debra, a novice rower, continued alone and rowed 3000 miles from Tenerife to Barbados. The row should have taken six weeks to complete, however, Debra ended up spending nearly four months at sea alone, encountering 30 ft. waves, sharks, and rough seas in her 23 foot plywood boat.
Penny Mallory first hit the headlines in her sport of rally driving; reaching the top of the sport in spite of many challenges. She is a qualified sports psychologist and performance coach and frequently works with large organisations, teams, world class athletes and individuals on their attitude, approach and mental performance.Penny combines these roles with her business consultancy which delivers workshops on leadership and performance.
“The Challenge Summit seeks to showcase the synergies between the competitive sporting arena and the corporate business world.” said Helen Davies, who has an extensive background in sports management in the UK.
Co-organiser Caroline De Lange added: The Challenge Summit will not only provide a highly motivational & inspirational platform but our speakers will also be teaching effective management, team building and strong leadership strategies often an area neglected with the busy workday schedule yet crucial to success. The day will be informative, challenging and an opportunity for our delegates to network with UK wide Entrepreneurs, Senior Executives and CEO’s.
Friends Helen Davies and Caroline De Lange have launched The Challenge Summit 2015; a leadership and motivational event showcasing speakers from across the world who have excelled in their chosen sporting careers and have gone on to be successful in their businesses. The event will be held on Thursday 16th July, with a reception drinks event to be held the evening before for delegates and guests. World cup winning All Black and former captain, Sean Fitzpatrick will be the headline speaker.
