Church Village-based charity Follow Your Dreams has appointed a new board of trustees comprising a host of leading business figures from across South Wales. The incoming board is responsible for the governance of the charity and its direction.
The board includes Chairman Jean-Bertrand de Lartigue, leading HR and Training expert and Vice-Chairman John Davies, Independent Financial Advisor of Clifton Nash.
Other trustees include, John Moore of Thomas Carroll, business consultant Merv Smith and Diane Price; a mother who has seen first hand the difficulties parents experience when raising children with learning disabilities.
Speaking of the appointment of the new board, CEO Diane Blackmore said: ‘‘I am overjoyed to announce the makeup of the new board of trustees. We are proud to have appointed personnel with extensive expertise from the business community as well as the knowledge and experience of our stakeholders and senior staff.’’
Mrs Blackmore continued: ‘‘We needed a clear vision of where we are going as a charity. We do fantastic work for children and their families, but we do need to operate sensibly and within financial constraints; and this is where the experience from our business figures will prove invaluable.’’
Follow Your Dreams is a national charity operating in England and Wales that inspires children and young people with learning disabilities to follow their dreams.
Their vision is for children and young people with learning disabilities to recognise their potential, be ambitious and be provided with the opportunities to follow their dreams. The charity focuses on children’s abilities, growing and developing skills through the delivery of creative and interactive events, dreams and workshops.
Follow Your Dreams is looking to further expand its board of trustees. The charity is looking for committed individuals to strengthen their existing board. They require dynamic and motivated people who are sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the charity to fulfil these voluntary duties. Follow Your Dreams is looking for someone to contribute actively to the board of trustees by giving strategic direction; setting overall policy; defining goals and setting targets; evaluating performance; ensuring the charity’s effective and efficient administration and financial stability.
